Coaching

Trained in brain-based coaching methods, Carmel has 20 years of experience coaching and leading individuals and teams, helping people thrive in their roles and overcome challenges. She works 1:1 with clients to help them build resilience and flexibility in life and work, to be stronger, wiser and more capable. Since 2018 Carmel has been working pro-bono for Breast Cancer Now, coaching women living with and beyond breast cancer.

What is coaching? Coaching is a series of 1:1 conversations where I facilitate positive change by helping you improve your thinking. Based on the principles of neuroscience and using brain-based coaching systems, I will support you to clearly articulate your goals, set a practical and actionable plan to reach them, and work with you to build new habits, solve problems, and reach the outcomes that are right for you. It’s not counselling, or mentoring, nor is it magic! It’s a proven and effective method for unlocking your potential and making great things happen. Get in touch for a full rate card and a free 30-minute discovery session, to see if it’s right for you.

Feedback from coaching clients

“Our 12 sessions together truly helped get me to a better place in my life, and I’d like to thank Carmel for her role in this extraordinary change. THANK YOU!” — Jen M., Director, coaching client USA

“My coaching journey has been highly rewarding. It has helped me to build stronger reflection skills, helped me understand myself better by exploring what helps me to thrive in my role and how to take control back. This was at a time when work and life felt relentless leading to a sense of burnout. Carmel was an excellent coach to work with. She carefully balanced sessions to ensure they were personal to me as well as ensuring we have achieved the goals set. She was pragmatic and adapted her approach throughout the programme and approached our sessions with care, compassion and fun!” — Sarah, Senior Arts Manager, coaching client UK

Carmel taught me to reflect more deeply and understand what is really important to me. My anxiety has completely reduced, and I have clarity over questions about my career: what's next and the bigger picture. I introduced new rituals of self-care. Communicating with the amazing Carmel gave me huge inspiration and a positive charge. My endless gratitude to her for this important work!” — Julia N., Senior Museum Manager Europe

Areas of specialism

Coaching for menopause

Peri-menopause often starts right when we’re at a crucial moment in our careers. Many of my clients re-evaluate their professional paths as a result. Others simply seek support through this challenging time. Despite recent progress with bringing the menopause conversation front and centre, it’s still often seen as a taboo subject, and there is little support available. As a coach, I’m experienced in working with people experiencing peri-menopause, medical menopause and other stages our hormones plunge us into. Reach out, and find out how I can support you as you navigate physical and psychological changes, and their impact on your life and career.

Return to work coaching

Have you had an extended period of absence from work and feel the need for support upon your return? This could be time off to have a family, or unexpected long term sick leave for a cancer diagnosis or chronic illness. Carmel can work with you to ensure your return to work is as smooth as possible, that you practice self-care throughout the process, and she will help advocate for you if necessary. The approach to these sessions will be guided by you — by your requirements and comfort levels — providing whatever support you feel is most needed. Carmel can also work with your HR team to support them providing you with any reasonable adjustments.

Cultural sector leaders

With a background of 20 years in the cultural sector, across a range of artforms, in both the UK and Australia, Carmel brings her experience of cultural sector leadership to her coaching work. Carmel has extensive experience working as a consultant to CEOs and Chairs of cultural sector organisations, supporting them with strategic planning, funding positioning, managing change and growing sustainably. She can work privately with you 1:1 on individual coaching sessions, or work with your wider team. She also runs leadership development group coaching with Senior Leadership Teams, through her work at The Leadership Collective.

Health/cancer coaching

Significant health issues are affecting us earlier and earlier in our lives. Many of us have to continue to work either through treatment, or with a health condition that can impact on our ability to perform optimally. Carmel will work with you to create strategies to enable you to thrive in your working environment, making any reasonable adjustments you need.
